We check out the brand new Hunter & Barrel restaurant at the newly refurbished Eastland shopping centre Town Square.

On the weekend Cindy and I decided to try out one of the new restaurants in the new Town Square at Eastland Shopping Centre – Hunter & Barrel.

It was a Saturday night and we weren’t able to make a booking because they were completely booked out. However, they did tell us that they had a couple of tables they kept open so we could show up and hope for the best. So we showed up at just after 6pm and were lucky enough to get an awesome table right by the front windows. And let me just say, this place is gorgeous!

The atmosphere and styling of the interior is warm and inviting, with a country feel to it that instantly makes you think of home. It definitely has a bit of an American steakhouse feel to it as well, which I loved.

Now onto the best part, the food. And oh man was it good! We decided to absolutely go all out and overindulge with a full three course meal, and boy was it worth it!
To start with, we ordered the homemade lemonade (very sweet but really delicious) along with the hot cheesy dip and grilled flat bread for entrée.

It was incredible. That’s all I can say about it, incredible. The two of us were mopping up every last drop of cheese we could get from the pan. (On a side note, the serving platters they use are gorgeous and I wouldn’t have minded picking up a couple for myself!)
Next it was on to the main course. For me it was beer brined roast chicken and for Cindy it was crispy pork belly. With each of our mains we were able to also order a side dish from the menu so we combined and got the thick cut chips with aioli and the broccolini with toasted garlic.

Again, words can’t describe how amazing the food was. Everything was cooked to perfection; the meat was tender, the broccolini was crisp and the chips were to die for.
And then it was time for dessert…

OMG! S’mores, also known as chocolate and marshmallow roast with biscuits, were a first for me, but believe me when I tell you that I finally got why every teenage American television show always mentions them at some stage. We both almost went into a sugar coma devouring it, but Cindy hung in there and was able to finish it off while I unfortunately was defeated by the chocolatey-gooey-goodness.

All up it was an incredible evening with the most amazing food we have had in a long time. We will definitely be going there again.
For those of you wanting to experience this gastronomical delight for yourselves, keep in mind that the menu changes regularly, so you may not get exactly what we had, but you'll definitely get a great meal. Additionally, Hunter and Barrel have locations at Cockle Bay Wharf in NSW, as well as Whitford in Perth.
Until next time,
