Tiptoeing Through Tulips

There's something magical about springtime and nothing is more beautiful than fields with rows and rows of stunning flowers.

Spring has always been my favourite time of year, with the baby animals, the warm (but not hot) weather and the longer days. But most of all I can't wait for the flowers, and there's no better place to see the wonder of spring flowers than at the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival.

The Tesselaar Tulip Farm is located about 45 minutes from the city in the gorgeous Dandenong Ranges at a town called Silvan.

The festival runs for an entire month, with each week having a different theme; from Turkish week to Children's week to Irish week. However when I visited it was during Dutch week.

Dutch week is a great time to visit as all the staff dress up and there's lots of entertainment!

There is lots to do at the festival; including gift stalls, food trucks, entertainment, tractor rides and a sculpture walk that will take you on a tour of the tulip fields.

For most people though, the best part is seeing the rows and rows of stunning and brightly coloured tulips.

I had a great time taking photos of the flowers and the surrounding land...

I was sorely tempted to pick a few little sneaky tulips for myself, but alas picking is definitely not allowed!

All in all it was a great day, despite the cold weather and the drizzling rain. Let's just say that wearing 6 layers of clothes, 3 pairs of socks and my trusty gumboots was definitely a good idea!

Until next time,

Nat x
